This listing is for the rug hooking PATTERN "Spiral Chicken Revised" You can purchase it on either cotton monks cloth or primitive linen. This is for the PATTERN ONLY. It is not a finished rug and it does not include wool.
A 4" x 6" photo comes with the pattern.
The design is 18" x 22" and is hand drawn by me with 4" inch borders to make it fit on most rug hooking lap frames. The raw edges of the pattern have been serged to prevent raveling.
I designed my first Spiral Chicken pattern years ago. See listing P103: https://www.etsy.com/listing/267830303/rug-hooking-pattern-spiral-chicken-16-x?ref=shop_home_active_14
This rendition was hooked by my wonderful hooking friend, Mary Ann, in a Duluth Workshop. I always meant to hook up my rendition using a different color palette. Well, the years flew by while I "thought" about re-hooking it.
My "revised" Spiral Chicken came about because I realized my procrastination was because I did not want to hook all the little spirals that surrounded the edge in the first design!
So I did a little revising and came up with this design. I choose an eggplant plaid wool for the background and then added a few other plummy, rusty reds to the mix. The chicken was hooked using lights from creamy buttermilk to salmon plaid. Add greens and reds for the flowers and use all the leftovers in a "hit and miss" border and it's finished!

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.
Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.
Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.
Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
