PATTERN ONLY
Starlight Pine, 12" x 14", primitive rug hooking PATTERN on your choice of either cotton monks cloth or primitive linen.
A 4" x 6" photo is included with the pattern.

This pattern is great for beginning rug hooking and veteran rug hookers alike. It would be a perfect choice to teach someone you know how to hook. If you are new to primitive rug hooking, I recommend that you take a class or watch a YouTube video on primitive rug hooking.
No instructions are included.

I used a #8 (1/4" wide strips) to hook this pattern. Various textures of blue and navy blues for the background and border. The tree was hooked with a mixture of green values and textures. A golden star and one of the beauty lines were hooked in pale gold. The snow/grass ground was hooked with a hand dyed mottled pale greens. It's a great pattern to use up your strips (noodles, worms :))

I hand draw the design on the foundation fabric making sure to draw all border lines and straight lines on the straight of grain. There are 4" inch allowances on all sides making it large enough to fit on most lap frames or in a 14" hoop. The outside raw edges have been serged to prevent raveling while hooking.

If you need a hook, see my selection in the supplies section:

You will also need and heavy duty hoop or lap frame.

Which Backing Fabric should I choose?

Cotton Monks Cloth is 100% cotton woven with two warp threads and two weft threads has 12 x 13 holes per inch. It is great for hooking with all cuts of wool, from fine to primitive cuts. It is less expensive than primitive linen.

Primitive linen is 100% linen, the most durable backing fabric. It is more expensive than other backing fabrics. The evenly spaced weave of 12 x 12 threads per inch makes it great for all primitive cuts, #7 and wider.
Beginners usually have an easier time hooking with linen.

Both are fine and long lasting choices for the backing to support and make your hooked rug durable. I use both types, but usually choose linen for larger projects.

Do you refund shipping overage charges?

Yes, if the difference is $3.00 or more. Etsy calculations, especially on orders with multiple items, can add up to more than the actual shipping. I will let you know when your order is ready to ship if you will be receiving a shipping refund.
